Dinnertime for Ammit
Dinnertime for Ammit
“It’s midnight. I’m turning off my phone. Go to sleep”
I asked you for infinite gentleness
And you crushed me
with the letter of your Law
What you call “justice” is cruelty,
shrouded in fear and shame
And I hate what you have done to me
I will not give up on love
Even as I lie mangled and dying
under the falling bombs
From here, the sky is still beautiful
I love you as you have your way with me
as you tear my heart from my chest
and leave me bleeding on the shore
I will love you until I can't anymore
And beneath it all
I still see our innocence
as vengeance rolls from my hands
and the night explodes into a million stars
and I am lifted by feathers and light
Bless…
For the Word of God is written on my heart
And every breath is a prayer
blessed by what is good and right
As Ammit feeds on the hearts of
the unrighteous
